For local consumption    by  Bev Braune

I dream I am a glass
out of which someone had poured
warm honey's long summery sleep

The Mock Orange
has shed its leaves
in one night's season

Throw out Balzac, Aristotle,
Baudelaire for local
secondhand stands' consumption

Carve a circle 'round a pot
of soft woody clay
my prints mutable
on its uneven rim

Philadelphus x virginalis
loam-fed arms scrape for Spring skies
Sit on a sunny winter's windowsill
and vegetate

So much to be done
with empty honeyed glass
