Under the Broadcasting Services
Act, we cannot broadcast
advertisements but we can broadcast
sponsorship announcements. Sponsorship announcements can promote the goods
or services of
the sponsor and the only real
difference between this and an
advertisement is the inclusion
of a phrase indicating that the
business or company is a sponsor
of this station.
Sponsorship of our station is
an important means of raising the
funds necessary to stay on air.
For the sponsor it provides the
opportunity of having its product
or service broadcast to a wide
audience, at a very competitive
price.
Market research by a leading
industry organisation shows that
people who listen to community
radio are better educated than
average, have higher income
than average and more are
professional people.
They value young optimism and traditional
family life and their ages are
representative of the general
population. Our own research
has shown that many tune in to
our station as they do not like
what they hear on commercial

A 30 second spot is reasonably
