We gained our community broadcasting
license in late 1992 and
are licensed to serve the local
government areas of Parramatta,
Holroyd and Baulkham Hills. The
area is about 500 sq. Km. in size.
As with other community stations
we broadcast at low power, some
200W to the north and 60W to the
south, but our signal can be heard
in many parts of Sydney.
The station is run entirely by unpaid
volunteers. Members of the public
can join the Association and take
part in station activities, including broadcasting. We are formatted to
play New Adult Contemporary /
Smooth Jazz music each Monday to
Friday from 6am to 7pm and from midnight to 6am. This format is under
the control of the Board of
management of the station.
Outside these hours individuals present a
variety of programs (see our program
guide for further details).
Management of the station is under
the control of an elected Board
of management. The Association
holds members' meetings each
quarter and an annual general meeting
is held each August. We also
publish our quarterly newsletter
- "The Sound of Style". This phrase
is used in two senses. Firstly
it describes our format of New Adult Contemporary / Smooth Jazz music and
it is also a station
identification by which we are
commonly known.
Our income is derived from membership
fees, fundraising
activities and sponsorship income.
We play community announcements
on behalf of non-profit groups
and we are involved in a number
of community activities such as
the Orange Blossom Festival in
Baulkham Hills and the Holroyd
Family Festival. We have
received awards for our community
service.
2CCR-FM is Baulkham Hills Council's official station to
broadcast
information in the case of bushfires, floods and other
major emergencies.
In those situations we broadcast up-to-the-minute and
accurate details.
Residents have been asked by the Council to tune into
90.5FM instead of
using the phone lines which need to be kept clear.
We are happy to
provide this service.
Visit Baulkham Hills Shire Council's web page.
We conduct a course in broadcasting in conjunction with the Parramatta College.
We are located in the Balcombe Heights
community buildings at
92 Seven Hills Road, Baulkham Hills.
These heritage buildings
were formerly used as the Masonic
Home and School.
